How to Remove Copied Content From Google Search using DMCA

When you are publishing a content online, there are chances that others can copy and publish it on their website. Many of them do this out of ignorance and ultimately it’s you who have to pay the price by losing ranking and traffic. Google is getting smarter in finding such pages who are duplicating your content, but this is not the case every time. There are chances that others copied stuff from your blog, and his copied webpage is ranking higher than the original content. While I was working on my website to recover form Google panda effect, I realised that post duplication was a major reason for penalty.

If you are also on the same page like me where your content is being copied by others, this tutorial will educate you on how you can report such pages to Google search team. Once you report these copied pages, Google will remove it from Web-index and your original ranking will be re-stored. If you are reporting content from Platform like BlogSpot, those pages will be deleted by Google. So far I have noticed they take around 2-10 days to process your request.

Blogger DMCA team is very active and they delete such reported blog posts or complete blog from BlogSpot. But for self hosted WordPress blog, you can only report to remove it from Google web search but to delete that blog completely, you need to send a DMCA notice to webhosting of that site. In this post we will only be dealing with removing such content from Google Search

Find copied content from your blog:

There are many services like Copyscape  which you can use to find copied content from your blog. Or you can simply pick up a line from your blog post and do a Google search with quotes ( “ Text here ” ) and find all copied content. I highly recommend you to install TYNT script on your blog, which will let you earn a link back from Copy-paste spammers and you can also keep a track of who is copying your content.

Report copied content to Google:

So once you have identified your copied content. Go to Google DMCA page and select web search or Blogger what ever is appropriate. Select web search when reported website is not on BlogSpot, else select BlogSpot.

In this case I’m selecting Blogger as an Example:

ON the next page select these options:

• Google Products: Blogger/blogspot
• Reason: I have found content that may violate my copyright
• Copyright: Yes, I am the copyright owner or am authorised to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed
• Work in question: Other

After selecting this it will give you link to “This form” which will take you to page where you can report those pages from BlogSpot blog which is copying your content. If the copying website is not blogspot, you should select “Web search” at the first option.

Here are direct links for different form:

• For BlogSpot blog copying your content: Use this form
• Other platform copying your content: Use this form
• WordPress.com blog copying your content: Use this form

Now fill out the form and report all the links. You can use single form to report multiple links.

Before submitting, recheck your request. It may be little time taking process, but this works the best and within couple of days you will get rid of all such web content and you will get back all your stolen traffic.

If those blogs (Auto RSS content generated blogs) are using Adsense on their pages. Followthis link and report it to Google adsense team for violation of copyright. This will cost adsense account to spammer. So far, I have removed hundred of links in last couple of days and I can see traffic is coming back to my blog. Specially for those keywords which was stolen by such copy-paste blogger.

Earlier, I never bothered about reporting such posts to Google but now it’s always a good idea to report all such possible pages to Google. Do let us know are you in habit of reporting such copied content to Google or not?
